Kymberly and Deezel

Who could ever imagine that a company’s story would start with an 11 year old boy and a family parakeet?  But that is precisely how Deezelware was created. It was Christmas Eve 2006 when I noticed my son hanging the family parakeet’s Christmas stocking.  It immediately became apparent to me that “Santa” had forgotten to shop for his adored parakeet.  The local pet store was still open - so there was still time to shop.  It would not take long, a quick in and out to purchase the latest and greatest parakeet toys and treats.  Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to fall in love with an English Bulldog puppy.  Our family schedule, as like many others, has time-consuming commitments.  So therefore, I thought carefully about bringing home this puppy.  But there was something extremely special about him.  The bond that I felt was incredible.  Our meeting was truly destiny and I took “Deezel” home!

After a year passed, Deezel was full grown, and I wanted to invest in a special collar for him.  Off to the pet store again, this outing ended in total frustration and disappointment.  (Could it be that my art background made me an extremely tough critic or did unique collars for dogs just not exist?)  Empty handed, I went home determined to solve this problem.  I thought to myself, Deezel is a one-of-a-kind dog and deserves a one-of-a-kind collar. A collar that is truly special and unique.

I decided, as an established graphic designer, to design and create a collar for Deezel.  Delighted with this undertaking, I put 100% of my time and energy into the project.  The design possibilities were endless!  I knew my love for vintage jewelry would definitely be incorporated as a design element.  My passion for art, a need for a creative outlet, and the deep love for a dog turned into a magical company.

The enthusiasm and passion that existed when I designed the first Deezelware collar continues with each and every collar I create.  I carefully choose the perfect vintage embellishments and quality fabrics, trimmings, and leather for each design.  Extreme attention to detail and quality is my priority. The collars our 100% handcrafted in my studio in the Carmel Arts & Design District in Carmel, Indiana.  When creating custom collars, the specific dog’s breed, coloring, and personality inspire me.  Any additional elements that an owner desires to integrate into the collar design are easily accommodated.

Kymberly and DeezelDeezel’s unconditional love and inspiration have given me the opportunity to live my dream by creating these exceptionally unique collars.  I am truly blessed and grateful. Please enjoy these collars as much as I enjoy creating them!
